Company profile Demis has wide experience in system design, information management, informatics, policy analysis and knowledge management. The focus in our activities is to develop software tools and the challenge for Demis is the quest for innovative solutions and applications. New developments in our field are closely monitored and more than 30% of our time is spent on Research and Development. Our team of seven has a multidisciplinary composition that includes fields such as water control, water management, traffic and transport, infrastructure, spatial planning, GIS and IT. This knowledge is applied in the following fields: |
|
Water In the field of water Demis has been working on numerous projects, often in close cooperation with WL | Delft Hydraulics. This includes joint projects such as the Global Vulnerability Assessment of Sea Level Rise (Dinas Coast). This is an EU project with a large number of partners. For some results see the Dinas Coast web site. And the joint development of the Delft Tools product line that includes products such as Mapper and Netter. Or the development of the World Water Game, which was presented at the World Water Forum in 2000. Our latest project is the PC Ring user interface. This is a probabilistic model for dike safety, for which we developed the user interface. Traffic and transport Based on our Netter network editor a number of traffic and transport models have been developed for strategic analysis of traffic and transport problems. Our latest product is the iMove transportation model. It has been developed for multimodal travel choice modeling at a strategic level. iMove models transport of both people and freight over roads, railways and waterways. A separate module is available to estimate the effects in terms of road safety, noise and air pollution. Air For the National Aerospace Laboratory NLR Demis has developed an interactive illustration of the contribution that technological developments can have to reduce environmental impacts of growing air traffic volumes on Schiphol airport as opposed to building a new airport in the sea. The program was widely distributed on a CD-ROM. For the Ministry of Traffic and Transport we are working on the redefinition of the external safety model for regional airports. |
Energy For the Novem Demis has implemented the OEI-model. OEI is an acronym for Optimal Energy-Infrastructure. OEI is one of the instruments to be used by Novem to achieve a substantial reduction of the use fossil fuels in existing or new large scale building locations. The OEI-model of Novem allows energy consultants to calculate the energy demand and supply of large scale housing developments and to make a preliminary selection of optimal measures to reduce energy consumption and (greenhouse) gas emissions. Product development In most of our projects a map based user interface is used. For creating these interfaces we have developed a number of products that we sell on this web site:
