Welcome

Welcome to the Demis web site.

Besides providing some general information about Demis, the main purpose of this site is to provide product information and support, in particular for the Demis Web Map Server and related upcoming products.

In the Gallery, you will find several examples of web mapping applications and other projects we would like to show you. This is by no means a complete portfolio of our work, you can find out more about Demis in the About us section.

This sample code application has been developed in parallel using both Adobe Flash ActionScript 3 and Microsoft Silverlight/C# providing nearly identical functionality and code structure. We used a Earthquake data feed from the USGS to demonstrate, follow these links to view the Flash or Silverlight version.

March 2009 - Microsoft Virtual Earth Integration

Microsoft's Virtual Earth SDK (Live Maps) is Microsofts answer to Google Maps and technically speaking both mapping services work in a very similar way (Mercator projection, tiled maps) We developed a caching "connector" for Virtual Earth as well and provide a first proof of concept combining Virtual Earth Maps with custom map layers rendered by DemisWMS.

January 2009 - Google Maps Integration

The very popular Google Maps web application interface has recently been extended with a new API (Application programming Interface) for Flash and/or Flex programmers.

As Flash/Flex is our favorite web programming tool and some of our clients keep asking for the option of including Google Maps in their applications, we have made a first proof of concept combining Google Maps with custom map layers rendered by DemisWMS.

A maintenance update, version 4.20 has just been released.

This release provides a few new features like DTED and JPEG2000 format support, a connector script for providing maps to NASA WorldWind and more.

September 2005 - Demis WorldWind (3D world from NASA)

WorldWind is an exciting new 3D visualisation tool developed by NASA.

Because the structure of WorldWind is very open and it supports OpenGIS WMS servers, it was quite easy to make WorldWind display maps coming from our server.

To greatly improve performance we have gone a step further by developing a WorldWind specific connector which caches the rendered images on the server.

If you have WorldWind 1.3, you can download our Add-On here and view our worldmap in 3D. This will use our "public" demo server to provide the images so all you need to install yourself is a copy of WorldWind and the add-on...
For more information, check our announcement in the WorldWind Forum.

We are proud to announce that our Demis WMS product has been certified to be OpenGIS WMS 1.1.1 compliant after passing all the compliance tests as provided by the OpenGIS Consortium inc.

Only a selected few of all the registered products using the WMS protocol have been able to pass the strict suite of tests required to be certified as OpenGIS WMS compliant. As we were amongst the first few to adapt the WMS protocol a few years ago, we are proud to be amongst the first few companies to provide an officially certified product.
